For Immediate Release
Insanely Great Software Releases System 7 Pack
Edison, NJ, October 10, 1991 - Insanely Great Software today announced the release of the
System 7 Pack for the Apple Macintosh. The System 7 Pack, the first utility package developed
solely for System 7 users, includes three utilities: Finder 7 Menus!, Rename Delay Editor!, and
Application-Document Linker!
Finder 7 Menus! lets System 7 users change, add, and delete command key combinations from
the System 7 Finder. For example, many users would like to be able to press Command Key-T to
Empty the Trash, Command Key-M to Make an Alias, or Command Key-S to ShutDown. With
Finder 7 Menus!, they’ll be able to make all these changes and more in seconds.
Rename Delay Editor! lets System 7 users change the rename delay in the System 7 Finder.
With System 6, Macintosh users could simply click on an icon and start typing to edit a file name.
With System 7, Apple decided to add a “rename” delay that forces users to wait a second before
they can edit a file name. Apple implemented this behavior to help prevent users from mistakenly
changing file names, but ironically, this new behavior has often confused users and annoyed users
who do not wish to wait for the Finder. Insanely Great Software is pro-choice on this very
important System 7 issue. Rename Delay Editor! lets users decide for themselves if they want a
rename delay, and if they do, how long the delay should be.
Application—Document Linker! gives System 7 users the power to change the relationships
between documents and applications. With System 7, Apple provided a new capability where
TEXT and PICT (Picture) files would automatically run TeachText if the application that created
them could not be found. Unfortunately, Apple did not allow users to change the default
application from TeachText to another of their liking. Apple also did not give System 7 users the
ability to add new “links” between documents and applications. With Application—Document
Linker!, System 7 users will not only be able to change the default settings, but also to add as
many links as they wish. For example, Application-Document Linker! users could make a new link
where all MacWrite documents would automatically open Microsoft Word. As with all the utilities
in the System 7 Pack, Application—Document Linker is a cinch to use.
The System 7 Pack is available immediately for only $29.95. Registered users of any Insanely
Great Software product may obtain the System 7 Pack for only $19.95.
The System 7 Pack is currently available directly from Insanely Great Software. To order, simply
send a check payable to Adam Stein to Adam Stein, Insanely Great Software, 126 Calvert Ave.
E., Edison, NJ 08820.
Insanely Great Software was founded in 1988 by Adam Stein, a 14 year old developer, to produce
insanely great software for the Apple Macintosh at reasonable prices. Insanely Great Software’s
products have been in MacWeek, MacPower of Japan, Compuserve Magazine, on America Online,
Compuserve, ZMAC, Connect, and Genie. With the introduction of the System 7 Pack, Insanely
Great Software hopes to reach a much larger base of Macintosh users. Adam Stein is now a senior
in high-school and will enter college in the fall of 1992. Proceeds from the sale of the System 7
Pack will go towards a very expensive college education.
